Award ceremony during the 53rd Annual General Meeting 2026

During the 53rd Annunal General Meeting of the Colloid Society which took place from 30th of September to 2nd of October with the theme „From Force to Function“, the following awards of the Colloid Society were presented:

  • Ostwald Award: Markus Antonietti, Golm
  • Liesegang Award: Alexander Kühne, Ulm
  • Zsigmondy grant: Quinn Besford, Dresden
  • Graham grant: Junbai Li, Beijing (CN)

Markus Antonietti

Markus Antonietti received the Ostwald Prize for his work on the development of novel catalysts and functional materials, particularly in the areas of photocatalytic hydrogen production, carbon nitride research, and the synthesis of modern nanomaterials.

Alexander Kühne

Alexander Kühne received the Liesegang Prize in recognition of his work on the controlled synthesis of monodisperse particles from semiconducting polymers and his elucidation of the mechanism by which they form.

Quinn Besford

Quinn Besford was awarded the Zsigmondy Fellowship to support his work at the intersection of colloid, interfacial, and life sciences, particularly regarding the interaction of polymeric nanoparticles with biological media and the development of precise physicochemical sensors.

Junbai Li

The College Society awarded Junbai Li the Graham Prize in recognition of his contributions to the self-organization of interfacial structures, drug delivery, and biomimetic systems with biological functions.
